The Guild Dance Program offers instruction in modern as well as classical styles of dance for all ages and skill levels; we have classes for toddlers, children, teens, and adults! (Moms and Dads: It's never too late to start dancing!)

WEEKLY AND SESSION CLASSES 

DANCE TOTS (18 MONTHS - 2 YEARS)

Parents participate along with their child (one adult per child allowed in class) to help them in the correct movements and encourage the parent/child bond. The class includes stretching, body awareness exercises, and traveling steps that are practiced while holding the hand of the parent and/or instructor. The last segment of the class is devoted to creative time between the parent and child. This class meets once a week for 30 minutes. Comfortable clothes should be worn with socks or bare feet.

CREATIVE MOVEMENT (3-4 years)
In an atmosphere of fun, this class is designed to introduce the young student to the world of dance.  While learning all their ballet basics, the class is formatted in a creative way to hold the young dancer’s attention and keep them interested.  Children will develop an awareness of music and rhythms and will learn to use their bodies and imaginations.  All students have the option of wearing traditional pink tights and ballet slippers, or flesh-toned tights and ballet slippers.  To purchase or order your dancewear please visit the Guild Shop.  Students should wear the appropriate leotard color as indicated.

CLASSICAL BALLET AND POINTE (4YRS AND UP)

Ballet is a beautiful art form that requires dedication and discipline.  It is an excellent form of exercise for all ages, toning and strengthening the entire body while helping to promote good posture and alignment.  Pointe work begins around the age of 10 for the serious dance student after fulfilling the appropriate requirements.  All students have the option of wearing traditional pink tights and ballet slippers, or flesh-toned tights and ballet slippers.  To purchase or order your dancewear, please visit the Guild Shop.  Students should wear the appropriate leotard color as indicated.

GUILD DANCE ENSEMBLE (12YRS AND UP)

The purpose of the Guild Dance Ensemble is to provide a place for trained young dancers who have danced through the years and have a commitment and desire to be stronger dancers but don’t seek a pre-professional track in dance. The Ensemble is for dancers ages 12 and up who have previous dance training. Fast learning teen beginners may also be placed in this class.  Pointe work is not required but will be offered to those who are eligible. All students have the option of wearing traditional pink tights and ballet slippers, or flesh-toned tights and ballet slippers.  To purchase or order your dancewear please visit the Guild Shop.  Pink or flesh-toned tights may be worn with Capezio black or skintone 60 jazz shoes, or caramel tap shoes (speak with your instructor for specifics on tap shoes). All dancers will need Capezio skintone 60 jazz shoes by recital.

JAZZ AND TAP

Jazz and Tap are excellent complements to ballet training.  These expressive styles of dance open up many new possibilities for movement to the dance student.  Done to popular music, they are fast paced and fun forms of dance that greatly help with rhythm and musicality.  Pink or flesh-toned tights may be worn with Capezio black or skintone 60 jazz shoes, or caramel tap shoes (speak with your instructor for specifics on tap shoes). All dancers will need Capezio skintone 60 jazz shoes by recital.   Leotard color shown below is based on the age/level of the student placed in each class.  To purchase or order your dancewear please visit the Guild Shop.

HIP HOP

Step out of your box and into the studio as you pop and lock into Hip Hop class with Sean Steigerwald.  Classes will start with a basic warm-up followed by a hip hop combination that is broken down each week. Basic gym or dance clothes should be worn with dance or gym sneakers.

ADULT CLASSES

ADULT BALLET (AGE 18+)

This class combines the strengthening and elongation of a traditional ballet barre with an emphasis on combinations and fitness to work your body top to bottom. It is a beginning to intermediate level ballet class and a fun way to add something different to your workout routine. Wear leotard and tights or comfortable clothes you can move in like yoga pants/tank top, and ballet shoes. Shoes in adult sizes are available to purchase from our Guild Shop.

PILATES (AGE 12+)

Need to change up your exercise routine? Or do you want to try something new? Try our new Pilates class! Open to Adults and Teens of all levels, this class incorporates light stretching and core stability.  Yoga or general fitness attire should be worn with bare feet.

BALLET DALTON

In 1990, Ballet Dalton was established as a performance outlet for pre-professional students. The school’s commitment to quality has produced a polished group of dancers including numerous Governor’s Honors dancers and various college dance program participants. The Company’s season includes the annual Snow Queen, Spring Recital and Evening Concert and various community performances. This program is by invitation and audition only.

MASTER TIER

Designed for Ballet Dalton Company Members, this class offers an extra dancing opportunity to continue to gain strength and knowledge in ballet and contemporary technique.  Focused around the Youth America Grand Prix, dancers will each learn and rehearse a classical ballet variation or contemporary work that they will compete in the annual YAGP regional competition in Atlanta, GA.  These dancers also have additional performance opportunities in our end of the year Spring Concert and Recital and various community events.  The $75 monthly fee for this class also includes a discounted rate for a 30 minute monthly private lesson.

DANCE CAMPS

BARBIE DANCE CAMP (3-5YRS)- JUNE 17-20, 5:30-6:15PM
Instructors: Rosalyn Guerra and Jessie Southerland | $55/month

"Hi Barbie!" "Hi Ken!" "We can do anything, right?" Find your best self in the dance studio! Dancing to music from the hit Barbie movie, students will learn age-appropriate ballet technique and should wear leotard, tights, and ballet shoes to class. Barbie or Disney-style costumes worn over leotard and tights are welcome.

HEY BARBIE! MULTI-DISCIPLINARY CAMP (6-10YRS)- JUNE 10-13, 9:00am-12pm | $200
Hey Barbie! Step inside your own PINK world where we celebrate all things Barbie.  In this camp, Barbies will learn dances to new and old Barbie music and create Barbie themed art in Pink! (it goes with everything) and other fun activities. Come on, we’ve got important things to do…it’s her and her and me and you! Please include your shirt size when registering. 

BLUEY DANCE CAMP (3-5YRS)- JULY 8-11, 5:30-6:15pm
Instructors: Rosalyn Guerra and Jessie Southerland | $55/month

Use your DANCE MODE each day in the studio to music from the endearing and beloved show, Bluey! Students will learn age-appropriate ballet technique and should wear leotard, tights, and ballet shoes to class. Disney-style costumes worn over leotard and tights are welcome.

JUNGLE BOOK MULTI-DISCIPLINARY CAMP (5-10YRS)- JULY 8-11, 9:00am-12pm | $215
We will get down to the bare necessities in this fun filled multi-disciplinary experience for kids. Campers will sing, dance, and create Jungle themed art and instruments. The week will culminate in a performance on Thursday before the camp concludes. 

CREATIVE PLAYERS KIDS THEATER CAMP (6-14yrs) - July 22-25, 9:00am-4:00pm | $350
In this camp, the Creative Arts Guild in collaboration with Artistic Civic Theatre and Dalton Little Theatre will feature acting, dance, and music classes. At the end of the week, the campers' families will be treated to a showcase of their students' work and effort during the week. This camp will feature music, scenes, and monologues from popular and classic Broadway shows. This camp is designed for students to be able to enjoy all aspects of theatrical performance and gain confidence in their own abilities in Theatre Arts.

IN OUR TAYLOR SWIFT DANCE ERA - ONGOING TECHNIQUE CLASSES IN BALLET, JAZZ, TAP, AND LYRICAL

Incorporating favorite Taylor Swift songs into our classwork, decide what Era you are in...Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical???  Or maybe you’re all four! 

Dancers will learn age-appropriate Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Lyrical movements and combinations, and will dance to an array of musical selections by and inspired by Taylor Swift.  This will be a fast-paced and fun session for the dance enthusiast.  These classes are appropriate for both beginners and those with some dance experience.  Ballet and Jazz shoes can be purchased in our Guild Shop.  Tap shoes can be purchased online from Amazon or Discount Dance Supply.  We recommend Capezio Tic Tap Toe lace-up tap shoes in caramel.  Be sure to look at the shoe size chart before purchasing as they do not necessarily run the same as street shoe sizes.

Company Intensive is required for all Ballet Dalton Company members. 

Ballet Dalton camp will consist of a 2-hour technique class each morning from 9-11 am, a pointe, variations, conditioning or dance history class from 11-12, an hour for lunch, and 2 hours of rehearsal for the upcoming season each afternoon. (Guild Dance Ensemble members may participate in the morning technique classes from 9:00-11:00.)  Ask Mrs. Jessie for details.  Dancers should bring lunch and a water bottle. 

BALLET DALTON MASTER SERIES
6 Tuesdays: June 18, 25, July 2, 9, 16, 23

Master Series is required for all Ballet Dalton Company members.

This Junior and Senior Company series will consist of a technique class each of the weeks noted above with a master teacher in various dance genres including ballet, modern, and more.

Master Tier is required for all Ballet Dalton Company members. 

Continue your training through the summer with our ongoing master tier.  Each week will offer something different including variations, jumps and turns classes, stretching and strengthening, etc. This series is required for company members and suggested for Guild Dance Ensemble members.

YAGP PREP SERIES
6 Tuesdays: June 18, 25, July 2, 9, 16, 23
12:00-1:00pm | $110/session
Instructors: Sean Steigerwald and Jessie Southerland

This series is for our Ballet Dalton Senior Company dancers who choose to pursue participation in the 2024-25 regional competition for the Youth America Grand Prix.  Students will learn several variations designed to allow the Director and instructor to assign dancers to their variations for the competition well in advance, giving more time to prepare.  Price includes one 30-minute private lesson.   

 


Guild Policies and Procedures

REGISTRATION: Visit our Registration Portal to register for classes. A $30 Yearly Registration Fee will be charged at time of Registration for fall classes. Registration is taken on a first-come-first serve basis.  Classes with less than 5 students are subject to close due to low attendance or registration. Families of the closed class will be contacted prior to the first day of class. Staff members will assist in finding placement in another class.

CLASS ATTIRE: Please see class descriptions for attire requirements. Appropriate leotards for your child’s class level are available in the Guild Shop.  Leotards need to be purchased from our Guild Shop so that students have the appropriate color for class and the Guild logo embroidery. Creative Movement: 3 years

SESSION: Our 2023-2024 school year runs from August 14, 2023 - May 17, 2024. Summer session will run from June 3 - August 2, 2024.

TUITION: Tuition is due by the 10th day of each month. Late tuition will result in a $10 charge. Fall tuition consists of monthly tuition due for August through May. Once a student is enrolled in a class they are enrolled until the end of the session or until a withdrawal is completed.

WITHDRAWAL POLICY: Registering for a class and/or lesson is a commitment to attend as scheduled. If for any reason you or your student cannot continue, you must notify the Guild/Instructor by completing a withdrawal notice.  Accounts are charged for classes until a withdrawal request is received.  30-day notice must be given all classes/lessons.  Students withdrawing from class or lessons with less than 30-day notice must pay for the following month.

MAKE-UP CLASSES: Please see your instructor to schedule a make-up class. Missed classes will not result in prorated tuition or refunds.

SNOW QUEEN: The fee for Snow Queen is $30 per dancer and is due by September 15th. The Snow Queen production will be held in mid-November (dates to be confirmed) at the Dalton High School Theatre. In-theater rehearsals will be the week of and are required.

SPRING RECITAL: All dancers at the Creative Arts Guild will perform in the annual Spring Recital. Scheduled dates are May 10 (Int. 3’s, 4’s, Ballet Dalton, Ensemble) and 11, 2024 (entire school). In theater rehearsals will be held May 7-9, 2024 and are required.

Recital Costume Fees: A recital costume fee of $85 per class/per costume will be due no later than October 15. You may pay costume fees in installments prior to December if needed. Please indicate on your payment that it is for recital costumes.

Recital Fee: The spring performance fee is $30 per family and is due by February 15th. This fee is for facility rental, lighting, and other off property expenses that we incur.
