The Guild Dance Program offers instruction in classical and contemporary styles of dance for all ages and skill levels; we have classes for toddlers, children, teens, and adults! (Moms and Dads: It's never too late to start dancing!)

'24-'25 WEEKLY AND SESSION CLASSES

DANCE TOTS (18mos-2 years)
Parents participate along with their child (one adult per child allowed in class) to help them in the correct movements and encourage the parent/child bond. The class includes stretching, body awareness exercises, and traveling steps that are practiced while holding the hand of the parent and/or instructor. The last segment of the class is devoted to creative time between the parent and child. This class meets once a week for 30 minutes. Comfortable clothes should be worn with socked or bare feet.

CREATIVE MOVEMENT (3-4 years)
In an atmosphere of fun, this class is designed to introduce the young student to the world of dance. While learning all of their ballet basics, the class is formatted in a creative way to hold the young dancer’s attention and keep them interested. Children will develop an awareness of music and rhythms and will learn to use their bodies and imaginations. All students have the option of wearing traditional pink tights and ballet slippers, or flesh-toned tights and ballet slippers. To purchase or order your dancewear please visit the Guild Shop. CLASSICAL BALLET & POINTE (4 years and up)
Ballet is a beautiful art form that requires dedication and discipline. It is an excellent form of exercise for all ages, toning and strengthening the entire body while helping to promote good posture and alignment. Pointe work begins around the age of 10 for the serious dance student after fulfilling the appropriate requirements. All students have the option of wearing traditional pink tights and ballet slippers, or flesh-toned tights and ballet slippers. To purchase or order your dancewear, please visit the Guild Shop. HIP HOP (7-12 years)
Step out of your box and into the studio as you pop and lock into Hip Hop class with Sean Steigerwald. Classes will start with a basic warm-up followed by a Hip Hop combination that is broken down each week. Basic gym or dance clothes should be worn with dance or gym sneakers.

GUILD DANCE ENSEMBLE (12 years and up)
The purpose of the Guild Dance Ensemble is to provide a place for fast-learning beginners or trained young dancers who have danced through the years and have a commitment and desire to be stronger dancers but don’t seek a pre-professional track in dance. The Ensemble is for dancers ages 12 and up who have previous dance training, as well as fast-learning teen beginners. Pointe work is not required but will be offered to those who are eligible. All students have the option of wearing traditional pink tights and ballet slippers, or flesh-toned tights and ballet slippers. To purchase or order your dancewear please visit the Guild Shop. Pink or flesh-toned tights may be worn with Capezio skintone 60 jazz shoes, or caramel tap shoes (speak with your instructor for specifics on tap shoes).

JAZZ & TAP (6 years and up)
Jazz and Tap are excellent complements to ballet training. These expressive styles of dance open up many new possibilities of movement for the dance student. Done to popular music, they are fast paced and fun forms of dance that greatly help with rhythm and musicality. Pink or flesh-toned tights may be worn with Capezio skintone 60 jazz shoes, or caramel tap shoes (speak with your instructor for specifics on tap shoes). CLASSES FOR ADULTS

ADULT BALLET (18 years and up)
This class combines the strengthening and elongation of a traditional ballet barre with an emphasis on combinations and fitness to work your body top to bottom. It is a beginning to intermediate level ballet class and a fun way to add to your workout routine. Wear leotard and tights or comfortable clothes you can move in like yoga pants and tank top, and ballet shoes. Shoes may be purchased at the Guild Shop.

BALLET DALTON

In 1990, Ballet Dalton was established as a performance outlet for pre-professional students. The school’s commitment to quality has produced a polished group of dancers including numerous Governor’s Honors dancers, summer intensive acceptees, and various college dance program participants. The Company’s season includes the annual production of The Snow Queen, Spring Recital and Evening Concert, and various community performances. This program is by invitation and audition only.

MASTER TIER
Designed for Ballet Dalton Company Members, this class offers an extra dancing opportunity to continue to gain strength and knowledge in ballet and contemporary technique. Focused around the Youth America Grand Prix, dancers will each learn and rehearse a classical ballet variation or contemporary work that they will compete in the annual YAGP regional competition in Atlanta, GA. These dancers also have additional performance opportunities in our end of the year Spring Concert and Recital and various community events. The $75 monthly fee for this class also includes a discounted rate for a 30 minute monthly private lesson.

PRIVATE LESSONS (ALL AGES)

Private lessons are an excellent complement to your regular classes to focus on polishing technique and increasing overall knowledge of dance fundamentals, skills, and terminology. Lessons are available by request in both 30 and 60-minute increments. If you are interested in private lessons, please send an email to jessies@creativeartsguild.org.


Guild Policies and Procedures

REGISTRATION: Visit our Registration Portal to register for classes. Each Visual Arts, Dance and Music family are charged a registration fee of $40 per family per year. This fee helps to cover administrative costs, overhead, and to offset the cost of the online registration system throughout the year. This fee also holds your student's spot in their class. Registration fees are billed once yearly per family and covers all members of the household in any Guild classes with which they participate.

CLASS ATTIRE: Please see class descriptions for attire requirements. Appropriate leotards for your child’s class level are available in the Guild Shop. Leotards need to be purchased from our Guild Shop so that students have the appropriate color for class and the Guild logo embroidery. SESSION: Summer session runs from June 3 - August 2, 2024. Our 2024-2025 school year runs from August 12, 2024 - May 16, 2025.

TUITION: Class tuition is due by the 10th day of each month. Late tuition will result in a $10 charge. Fall tuition consists of monthly tuition due for August through May. Workshops are billed out by session. Enrollment in any class or workshop must be paid for at the time of registration along with a registration fee. Once a student is enrolled in a class/workshop they are enrolled until the end of the session or until a withdrawal is completed.

WITHDRAWAL POLICY: If for any reason you or your student cannot continue, you must notify us via our registration portal, via phone or in person. Accounts are charged for classes until a withdrawal is received. A 30-day notice must be given for classes that are billed monthly. Students withdrawing from the class in less than 30 days must pay for the following month. If student just stops attending classes without notification of withdrawal, you are still responsible for payment during that time. Notification must given to drop from a workshop or a camp. Request for withdrawal received at least 3 weeks prior to the start date will receive a full refund, less a $20 cancelation fee. 50% refund if canceled 2 weeks before and no refund if canceled the week before the start of the workshop or camp.

MAKE-UP CLASSES: Please see your instructor to schedule a make-up class. Missed classes will not result in prorated tuition or refunds.

SNOW QUEEN: The fee for Snow Queen is $50 for the first dancer in each family and $30 for additional dancers, and is due by September 15th. The Snow Queen production will be held November 21-24, 2024 at the Dalton High School Theatre. In-theater rehearsals will be November 18-20 and are required. This fee is for facility rental, lighting, performance video, and other off-property expenses that we incur and this also includes a digital download of the performance.

SPRING RECITAL: All dancers at the Creative Arts Guild will perform in the annual Spring Recital. Scheduled dates are May 9th (Int. 3’s, 4’s, Ballet Dalton, Ensemble) and 10th, 2025 (entire school). In-theater rehearsals will be held May 6-8, 2025 and are required.

Recital Fee: The spring performance fee is $50 per family and is due by February 15th. This fee is for facility rental, lighting, other off-property expenses that we incur, and also includes a digital download of the performance.

Recital Costume Fees: A recital costume fee of $85 per class/per costume will be due no later than October 15th. You may pay costume fees in installments prior to October if needed. Please indicate on your payment that it is for recital costumes.
