Art & Soul is the Guild’s annual fundraiser for all of our Arts in Education programs. The Guild’s Arts in Education programs consist of our internal educational classes and workshops in Dance, Music, Visual Arts, Culinary Arts, Literary Arts, and Theatre Arts; field trip offerings; arts scholarships; our annual Student Arts Expo; the KIDS FEST area at our annual ARTS FEST: Festival of Fine Arts & Crafts; and Creative Connections – our annual professional development conference for all our area school arts educators in all arts disciplines.
Our coveted partnership with the O.N. Jonas Foundation provides Artists in Residence opportunities for our area students - striving to ensure that every child in our community has the opportunity to participate in the arts. The partnership is committed to broadening student arts exposure and education in grades Pre-K through 12 in Dalton Public, Whitfield County and Murray County Schools, as well as the Elbert Shaw Regional Detention Center, Crossroads Academy, and Northstar School. Each year, these arts education programs create nearly 50,000 arts experiences for our area students.
Arts education and exposure has numerous benefits including improved academic performance, cultural awareness, inventiveness, social and emotional development and civic engagement. It also promotes self-directed learning, improves school attendance and sharpens critical and creative skills. The Guild’s Arts in Education programs strive to ensure that ALL of our community’s children are engaged in the arts and are granted the benefits of art experiences regardless of their socioeconomic background.
With your help, we will continue the tradition of connecting students to the arts. Please join us at this year’s Art & Soul fundraiser!
