Visual Arts Classes at the Creative Arts Guild offer students of all ages and skill levels an opportunity to explore art in a supportive and nurturing environment that welcomes exploration, discovery and development of skill, and technique. CLASSES FOR CHILDREN & TEENS

Art Tots (Projects with Paula) - 18mos-4yrs
Paula Plott Gregg | Mondays, 3:00-3:45pm OR Tuesdays, 12:15-1:00pm | $75/month
In this class petit Picassos and the adult of their choice will get creative (and messy)! This class is very much about the process and not necessarily about the finished product. Get ready to have fun with your child while sparking imagination and creativiey. Pricing includes supply fee.

Discovering Art with Melissa Herz
5-7yo | Tuesdays, 4:15-5:00pm | $65/month
8-10yo | Tuesdays, 5:00-6:00pm | $65/month
Students will learn how to express their imaginations while exploring drawing, painting, sculpture, and fine craft techniques. Each child will create multiple artworks while gaining a better understanding of the creative process. Pricing includes supply fee.

Projects with Paula Plott Gregg
18mos-4yrs | Tuesdays, 12:15-1:00pm | $75/month
8-13yrs | Wednesdays, 4:00-5:00pm | $80/month
Students will experiment with different mediums and materials to create unique projects and artwork. Pricing includes supply fee.

Painting Exploration for Teens with Sandra Babb - 12yrs+
Thursdays, 4:00-5:30pm | $80/month
In this class watercolor, acrylic, and oil paints will be introduced and used. While this is a structured course on painting methods, students' interest on subject matters will be taken into consideration. Pricing includes supply fee.

Acrylic Painting (Beginner-Advanced) - 18yrs+
Sandra Babb | Thursdays, 10:00am-12:00pm | $65/month or $20 drop-in rate
This course focuses on acrylic painting techniques, materials, color theory, and composition. This course will be taught with the knowledge that discoveries will follow naturally, and technique and color will be emphasized. Beginning, intermediate, and advanced students are welcome. Drawing for Adults (Beginner-Advanced) - 18yrs+

Pottery - 18yrs+
Beginners: Mondays, April 14-May 19, 6:15-7:45pm | $160/session
Advanced: Mondays OR Tuesdays, April 14-May 20, 6:15-8:45pm | $200/session
This 6-week pottery class offers an introduction to clay, hand-building techniques, and the use of the potter's wheel. Please contact instructors Dan and Mary DeFoor at angelvillepottery@gmail.com with questions. Pricing for beginners includes supply fee; pricing for advanced students includes supply fee up to 25lbs of clay. Additional clay may be purchased or students can bring their own.

 

WORKSHOPS FOR ADULTS

Thirsty Thursdays Sip + Create Workshops with Paula Plott Gregg - 21yrs+
One Thursday a Month (Aug. 22nd-May 15th), 5:45-7:45pm | $80 per workshop
Each month, students will complete projects in different mediums of the art world - everything from jewelry making to acrylic painting and more! Check our social media for updates on upcoming projects. Participants are welcome to bring their adult beverage of choice or purchase through the Guild.

 

Catherine Evans Whitener Demonstration and Workshop Series in Heritage Arts

We are thrilled to be partnering with the Bandy Heritage Center and the Prater's Mill Foundation to host a series of demonstrations and workshops here at the Guild that will celebrate the rich legacy of heritage arts in North Georgia, inspired by artists and artisans like Catherine Evans Whitener. Each month an artist will give a talk & demonstration about a form of heritage arts, followed by a hands-on workshop that will give participants the opportunity to learn more about the art form.

PENDANT MAKING WORKSHOP WITH JEFF FULKERSON - Saturday, May 17, 9am-4pm | $185

Join award-winning jewelry artist and silversmith Jeff Fulkerson for this hands-on jewelry workshop. Participants will create their own handcrafted pendant that is sure to be a treasured piece for years to come. Cost is $185 which includes tools and materials EXCEPT for the main stone. Jeff will have a selection of stones available for purchase the day of the workshop starting at $10, or participants can purchase their own cabochon ahead of time. Please bring your own snacks and/or lunch. This would be a great opportunity to create a unique Mother's Day present!

Little Explorers Multi-Disciplinary Camp | July 7-10 | $160                                                

Little Explorers, get ready to have fun in a week long camp all about nature and art. Campers will engage in themed crafts, music, and games.   They will explore the wonders of the outdoors while having adventures on nature walks, scavenger hunts, bug hunts and more.  This camp is for rising Pre-k and rising Kindergartners

Let’s get GROOVY! In this camp, students will explore different art mediums and techniques to make the grooviest of art.   

 

Fairy and Gnome House, June 16-19: $200         Paula Plott Gregg              

Bring on the magic! This week Campers will build, decorate and embellish their own Fairy or Gnome houses using found and art materials to take home and create magical memories.  

 

Animal Art, June 23-26: $190                                  Melissa Herz 

Each day, a special animal friend will visit the class from the local animal hospital, farm or even petting zoo. Campers will enjoy a special lesson about the visiting animal led by veterinary staff before creating a new masterpiece inspired by their friend of the day.  

 

Ode to America (Ages 5-9), June 30-July 2: $215 

Let’s celebrate the red, white & blue as we make art and culinary treats worthy of this great nation. 

 

Magical Forest Tea Party Multi-Disciplinary Camp, July 21-24: $215 

Campers will step into a world of enchantment where fairy tales come to life with whimsical activities, woodland crafts, and of course baking delights. Campers will spend the week in both art and culinary classes preparing for an ultimate magical tea party. On Thursday, each camper and one adult of their choosing will be able to attend the tea and sample all the delights they have been cooking up during the week.

Step outside and discover the wonders of nature as we take our art to the gardens.  Students will start every morning in our sculpture gardens painting the beautiful outdoors.  All skill levels are welcome. 

 

Ages 10-14

Wicked Multi-Disciplinary Camp, July 7-10, 9am-12pm: $215 

Campers will embrace a week of self-discovery and courage as they sing, dance, perform and make art all centered on the award winning musical and motion picture, Wicked. The week will culminate in a performance on Thursday at 11:30 before the camp concludes.   

 

Cardboard Critters,  July 21-24 : $200                  Paula Plott Gregg 

In this cardboard-filled camp as students will create adorable critters with BIG personalities with Ms. Paula.  Make room in your home for your new animal friends! 

 

Discovering The Masters, July 28-31 : $190                      Tanner Noland                                        

In this camp, students will look into works from the great masters of art, trying out techniques and styles from these world-famous artists.

 

Multi-Media Art 

Creative Fibers, June 9-11               Audrey Batts 

In this workshop, your child will be taught the basics of hand embroidery and the basic stitches used to create their own embroidery hoop art. Students will also work with other mediums to produce fiber arts and mixed media pieces. No prior sewing or needlework skills are required, just the willingness to try something new and the ability to be safe with sharp objects. *$10 discount does not apply to this camp.

Digital Art 

Introduction to Procreate, June 9-12     Melissa Herz 

This beginner Procreate class has everything you need to know about how to use the Procreate program.  We will cover everything that new beginners need to know: brushes and other essential tools, gestures, layers, mask, working with color, the best file formats for sharing your artwork and organizing your files.  Students will need a touch screen computer or tablet and a stylus/Apple pencil.  The Procreate program will need to be purchased and added to your device before the camp.   

*$10 discount does not apply to this camp.

Expressive Painting in Acrylics Workshop(Ages 18+)      Bradley Wilson 

In this course, intermediate/advanced students will practice the methods of expressive acrylic painting while exploring a variety of subject matter and receiving instructor feedback on work.  This class is especially geared towards those with some acrylic painting experience (Sorry, not suitable for beginners).  Student will also be given “Monthly Challenges” for painting projects to work on at home and bring in for critique.  Students will provide their own materials.  Please see our registration portal for more details and material suggestions. This is offered as one workshop per month.  You must register for each workshop you would like to attend.  Dates are listed below.

Leather Goods Workshop                          

This is a unique opportunity to make a leather shoulder bag of your  

choice or choose any project from the following: Leather belt, passport wallet, journal, phone pouch with braided strap, drawstring pouch, clutch purse, or a tote. You will be able to learn techniques of cutting leather, using basic tools, and stitching styles. If desired, you can learn how to use a wood burning tool to inscribe a design directly on to the leather and then colorize it. All leathers, materials, tools, and instructions are provided, along with templates. No artistic ability is necessary, nor is any previous leather working experience. You do not need to bring anything except lunch for the day, enthusiasm, and your desire to make something beautiful! Lunch is not provided for this workshop. Pricing includes supply fee.

Carpet Capital Camera Club

Photography enthusiasts are invited to meet with the camera club on the first Monday of each month from 6:30-8:30pm in the Guild's conference room for discussion on different topics and opportunities to share work. Private Art Lessons

Private art lessons are available for students of all ages. With private lessons, the student can concentrate on any medium they choose. The student will meet one-on-one with the art instructor weekly. If you are interested in taking private art lessons, please call 706.278.0168. $45 per hour.

Visual Art Department Guidelines:

Registration: Visit our Registration Portal to register for classes. Each Visual Arts, Dance and Music family are charged a registration fee of $40 per family per year. This fee helps to cover administrative costs, overhead, and to offset the cost of the online registration system throughout the year. This fee also holds your student's spot in their class. Registration fees are billed once yearly per family and covers all members of the household in any Guild classes in which they participate.

Tuition and Withdrawal Policy: Visual Arts classes are billed out monthly. Tuition is billed out on the 1st of the month. A $10 late fee will incur if tuition is not paid by the 10th of the month. Pottery classes are billed by the session and must be paid for at the time of registration. Registering for a class and/or lesson is a commitment to attend as scheduled. If for any reason you or your student cannot continue, you must notify us via our Registration Portal. Accounts are charged for classes until a withdrawal request is received. 30-day notice must be given for classes that are billed monthly. Students withdrawing from class of less than 30-day notice must pay for the following month. Notification via phone or in person is required to drop from a workshop or a camp. Request for withdrawal received at least 3 weeks prior to the start date will receive a full refund, less a $20 cancelation fee. 50% refund if cancelled 2 weeks before and no refund if cancelled the week before the start of the workshop or camp.

Makeup Classes: If a teacher cannot attend a class they will arrange for a substitute, in the event that no substitute can be found the teacher may offer a make-up class. In the event that classes are canceled due to inclement weather, classes will be made up at the discretion of the teacher.
