Visual Arts Classes at the Creative Arts Guild offer students of all ages and skill levels an opportunity to explore art in a supportive and nurturing environment that welcomes exploration, discovery and development of skill, and technique. This five-week pottery class offers an introduction to clay, hand-building techniques, and the use of the potter’s wheel. Acrylic Painting (Beginner – Advanced) 

This course focuses on acrylic painting techniques, materials, color theory, and composition.  This course will be taught with the knowledge that discoveries will follow naturally, and technique and color will be emphasized.  Beginning, intermediate, and advanced students are welcome.  A materials list will be provided.  Students will provide their own supplies.  Contact the instructor, Sandra Babb, at sandrababb93@gmail.com with questions.

WORKSHOPS

Presented in partnership with the Bandy Heritage Center for Northwest Georgia and the Prater’s Mill Foundation, this series of workshops gives participants more insight into various heritage arts traditions that are deeply rooted in the history of our community. Little Wranglers Camp (Ages 4-5)

Giddy up, little cowboys and cowgirls! In Little Wranglers Camp, campers will step into the fun and excitement of the Wild West. Campers will explore music, creativity, teamwork, and imagination in a playful, Western-themed environment, all while enjoying a week full of adventure and cowboy spirit. Campers will build creativity, confidence, and teamwork while having a rootin’-tootin’ good time! Led by Guild Staff

Storybook Sketchers Illustration Camp (Ages 5-8)

June 8-11 | 9am-12pm | $190

Young artists will bring their imaginations to life in this playful illustration camp! Campers will explore character design, storytelling, and creative drawing techniques as they fill their sketchbooks with original ideas. From silly creatures to magical worlds, each day encourages creativity, confidence, and self-expression—perfect for kids who love to use mixed media and dream big. Led by Tanner Noland

 

Nature Nook Art (Ages 5-8)

June 8-11 | 9am-12pm | $190

This playful camp invites young artists to explore the outdoors and turn nature into inspiration! Campers will create art using leaves, flowers, twigs, and other natural materials while learning about colors, textures, and the world around them. Through guided projects, and hands-on fun, kids will build creativity, curiosity, and a love for nature—all in a relaxed, imaginative setting. Led by Melissa Herz

 

Wild at Art Animal Camp (Ages 5-9)

June 22-25 | 9am-12pm | $190

Animal lovers will have a wild time creating art inspired by their favorite creatures! Campers will be visited everyday by a new animal friend while exploring drawing, painting, and mixed media projects featuring pets, regional animals, ocean friends, and more. Through fun, hands-on activities, young artists will build skills, creativity, and confidence—while bringing their favorite furry (and feathered!) friends to life. Led by Melissa Herz

 

Time Travelers Club Camp (Ages 5-8)

July 6-9 |9am-12pm | $190

In this imaginative art camp, campers will “travel” through different time periods—from ancient civilizations to the future—creating art inspired by each era. Through hands-on projects in drawing, painting, and mixed media, students will explore history in a fun, creative way while building artistic skills and big ideas along the way. Messy Masterpieces (Ages 5-8)

July 20-23 | 9am-12pm | $190

Get ready to roll up your sleeves and make some gloriously messy art! In this hands-on camp, campers will explore paint splatter, clay, printmaking, and other tactile projects that celebrate creativity without worrying about staying clean. It’s all about experimenting, getting a little messy, and turning big, bold ideas into one-of-a-kind masterpieces. Led by Amanda Walker

 

MULTI-DISCIPLINARY: GUILD Camp (Ages 6-10)

June 29-July 2 | 9am-12pm | $ 215

Step into a world of creativity at Guild Camp! This multidisciplinary camp gives campers the chance to explore all the art forms the Guild has to offer—from visual art, music, and dance, to culinary, and literary arts. Through hands-on projects, performances, and interactive activities, campers will spark their imagination, try new skills, and discover the joy of creative expression in a fun, inspiring environment. MULTI-DISCIPLINARY: Alice in Wonderland Tea Party (Ages 5-9)

July 13-16 | 9am-12pm | $ 215

Campers will step through the looking glass into a world of whimsy, where Alice in Wonderland comes to life with imaginative activities, fantastical crafts, and delightful baking projects. Throughout the week, campers will rotate through both art and culinary classes, creating magical treats and Wonderland-inspired creations. On Thursday, each camper and one adult of their choosing will attend the ultimate tea party to enjoy and share all the imaginative delights they’ve prepared during the week. Led by Guild Staff

 

MULTI-DISCIPLINARY: Around the World (Ages 6-10)

June 22-25 | 9am-12pm | $ 215

Travel the globe without leaving camp! In Around the World Camp, campers will explore different countries through art and culinary adventures, creating crafts inspired by world cultures and tasting or making dishes from around the globe. This hands-on, multi-sensory experience sparks creativity, curiosity, and a love for cultural exploration in a fun, engaging way. Led by Guild Staff

 

MULTI-DISCIPLINARY: K-Pop Camp (Ages 8+)

June 1-5 | 9am-12pm | $ 215

This high-energy camp brings the world of K-Pop to life through dance, art, and food! Campers will learn fun K-Pop choreography, create K-Pop-inspired crafts and visual art, and even make tasty treats tied to the culture. It’s a full-sensory, hands-on experience where students can express creativity, build confidence, and share their love for K-Pop in a fun, supportive environment. Led by Guild Staff

Urban Canvas Street Art (Ages 10+)

June 15-18 |1pm-4pm |$190

This dynamic camp dives into the bold world of street art. Campers will experiment with graffiti lettering, stencils, and mural design while learning about the history and impact of the movement. Through hands-on projects and collaborative work, students will develop their own creative voice and bring big ideas to life. Led by Melissa Herz

 

Little Clay Creators (Ages 8-12)

July 13-16 | 9am-12pm | $ 200

Young artists will dive into the hands-on fun of pottery, learning to pinch, coil, and shape clay into their own unique creations. Campers will explore textures, forms, and colors while building confidence, creativity, and a love for making art with their hands. Led by Jayme Laney

 

Plein Air (Ages 10+)

June 8-11 | 9am-12pm |$190

Step outside and discover the wonders of nature as we take our art to the gardens. Students will start every morning in our sculpture gardens painting the beautiful outdoors. All skill levels are welcome. Led by Sandra Babb.

 

Tween Art (Ages 10-13)

MULTI-DISCIPLINARY: Tik Tok Camp (Ages 10+)

July 27-30 | 9am-12pm | $ 215

This high-energy, multidisciplinary camp lets campers dive into the world of TikTok trends through art, dance, and culinary projects. Students will explore creative challenges inspired by the latest viral trends, make visually fun art and crafts, learn catchy dance routines, and even create trendy snacks. Campers will build skills, confidence, and creativity—all while having a blast and bringing their own TikTok-inspired ideas to life! Led by Guild Staff

 

Wearable Art (Ages 9+)

July 20-23 | 1pm-4pm | $ 200

Get ready to create art you can show off! In Wearable Art Camp, campers will design and make one-of-a-kind clothing, accessories, and jewelry using paint, fabric, beads, and more. Through hands-on projects, students will explore color, texture, and personal style while turning their creativity into wearable masterpieces. Led by Melissa Herz

Wheel Works: Teen Pottery Camp (Ages 13+)

This camp introduces wheel throwing. Campers will learn to center, shape, and trim clay while creating functional and decorative pottery. With hands-on guidance, teens build skills, creativity, and confidence as they bring their designs to life. Led by Jayme Laney

Carpet Capital Camera Club

Photography enthusiasts are invited to meet with the camera club on the first Monday of each month from 6:30-8:30pm in the Guild's conference room for discussion on different topics and opportunities to share work. Private Art Lessons

Private art lessons are available for students of all ages. With private lessons, the student can concentrate on any medium they choose. The student will meet one-on-one with the art instructor weekly. If you are interested in taking private art lessons, please call 706.278.0168. $45 per hour.

Visual Art Department Guidelines:

Tuition and Withdrawal Policy 

Visual Arts classes are billed out monthly and billed out on the 1st of the month.  A $10 late fee will incur if tuition is not paid by the 10th. Pottery classes are billed by the session and must be paid for at the time of registration.  Registering i a commitment to attend as scheduled. If for any reason you or your student cannot continue, you must notify us via our Registration Portal.  Accounts are charged for classes until a withdrawal request is received.  30-day notice must be given for classes that are billed monthly. Students withdrawing from class of less than 30-day notice must pay for the following month.  Notification via phone or in person is required to drop from a workshop or a camp. Request for withdrawal received at least 3 weeks prior to the start date will receive a full refund, less a $20 cancelation fee. 50% refund if cancelled 2 weeks before and no refund if cancelled the week before the start of the workshop or camp. 

 

Make Up Classes 

If a teacher cannot attend a class they will arrange for a substitute, in the event that no substitute can be found the teacher may offer a make-up class. In the event that classes are canceled due to inclement weather, classes will be made up at the discretion of the teacher. For more questions about make-up classes.
