CALLING ALL KIDS WHO LIKE TO SING:

Kids age 5-13 are invited to join our Community Children's Choir for our Pops in Burr Park event. The Choir will be singing the first two verses of "This Land is Your Land" towards the beginning of our Pops program on Friday, July 3.

Rehearsals will be on Tuesday, June 30 at 7pm and Thursday, July 2 at 7pm here at the Guild. Rehearsals aren't mandatory, but are highly encouraged so the kids can get familiar with the song.

The choir will rehearse one final time at the park before the program begins, around 8:15pm. All are welcome!

The star of Pops in Burr Park is, and has always been, the Creative Arts Guild Chamber Orchestra.

The term "Pops" comes from the tradition of orchestras performing popular music, from patriotic favorites and Broadway hits to movie themes, jazz standards, and contemporary classics. For generations, Pops concerts have brought communities together through familiar and beloved music performed by live orchestras in welcoming outdoor settings.

This tradition continues as the Creative Arts Guild proudly presents the 6th Annual Pops in Burr Park on July 3 in Burr Performing Arts Park in Downtown Dalton. This year, the event takes on special significance as our nation celebrates America's 250th anniversary and Pops becomes part of a community-wide, weekend-long semiquincentennial celebration. Through music and the surrounding festivities, we honor the people, history, and ideals that have shaped the United States for two and a half centuries while continuing a tradition that brings neighbors, families, and friends together in celebration.

Audiences can look forward to patriotic favorites including America the Beautiful, Armed Forces Salute, the 1812 Overture, and The Stars and Stripes Forever; jazz classics such as Georgia on My Mind and Embraceable You; and selections from Broadway sensations Wicked and Hamilton, among many other musical favorites.

The 2026 Pops in Burr Park performance will feature the 39-member Creative Arts Guild Chamber Orchestra, joined by 11 vocalists, a community children's choir, and dancers from Ballet Dalton. The event is free to attend and will also include free children's arts activities.

Guests can enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs, beverages, Dairy Queen Blizzard® treats, concessions, and glow sticks available for purchase beginning at 5:30 p.m., with proceeds supporting the Creative Arts Guild Chamber Orchestra and future community arts programming.

As the evening reaches its grand finale, audiences will experience a new dimension of Pops in Burr Park as powerful orchestral music is paired with a dazzling laser show designed to paint the night sky with light, movement, and patriotic spirit. Together, the music and visual presentation will create a memorable tribute to our community, our country, and 250 years of American history.
